I found this beautiful photo while on my quest through hundreds of articles and photos for my research on the current state of the global honeybee population. Honeybee colonies are disappearing at alarming rates. They pollinate over 1/3 of our consumed crops and 3/4 of all plants globally. Without them there are over 100 agricultural crops that would cease to exist. That means no more apple and cherry pie, no more peach tarts or jams; no curried cauliflower or butternut squash soup. It would be a dominant life of corn, wheat, and root vegetables.
If you are interested in reading more, please visit Kitchen Daily for their article 19 Crops That Would Disappear Without Bees, and be cautious of pesticide use in and around your area and the negative repercussions these chemicals are having on the environment and your health. This also includes being more of a supporter of the organic food industry and realizing the value of your foods (organic farming costs a lot of resources and the product that is reaped should be utilized to its max--no reason to be wasteful or over-indulge on precious-valued food items).
If you're interested in getting involved, please visit Credo to join the campaign, and Tell the E.P.A.: Ban the pesticide that's killing honey bees.
