

I received the photo on the right today from a special friend. Yesterday I made my mother's beer bread recipe as a birthday offering, this time using the Shiner Farmhouse 966 Ale. I used vegan Daiya Cheddar Shreds for the first time in this recipe (I've used it on pizza before). It's completely vegan--casein free--which can be hard to find sometimes. I based this off a recipe I found by Alton Brown that uses real cheddar cheese. In the future, I will only use 1/2 C. Daiya and 1/4 C. roasted sunflower seeds.
Make the dough as usual, sprinkle Daiya and sunflower seeds on top, bake at 375 degrees for 45-60 minutes. Pow. Cheddar Sunflower Seed Beer Bread.
