Exotic Asian Fruits

My close friend, Yara is of pure Cambodian spirit and grows equally pure exotic asian fruits on his shared land in Homestead, FL. He has been so kind as to share the fruit of his labor. In the past week, I have eaten at least 5 dragon fruits, 30+ longan fruit, 1 guava, and 4 carambola (a.k.a. star fruit), plus, share a batch with my closest friends.

Stay tuned for future adventures on Yara's farm in homestead.

Slice "star fruit" short ways so that each thin slice looks like a star. The entire fruit is edible.

Guava

Dragon Fruit

Slice dragon fruit long ways and scoop out white fruit with a spoon. The tiny black seeds give the fruit a consistency similar to kiwi, but with a more earthy taste.

Longan Fruit

To eat longan fruit, peel or crack open outer casing and consume clear-colored fruit like you would eat a cherry or a lychee.

It is delightful to see these kinds of exotic produce harvested from the earth of South Florida. Other unique finds are persimmons, jackfruit, avocado, black sapote, papaya, mango, coconut, passion fruit, Barbados cherry, cherimoya (sugar apple), and dwarf bananas. All of these fruits make their way into our home from kind friends that love to share.
