Chip Lovers

Homemade chips can easily be made in the oven (or microwave). I have found that when I make my own chips, I am more inclined to appreciate the ingredients, and am much more aware of the quantity I am consuming.

Try similar instructions with kale leaves, potatoes, flour tortillas, thinly sliced vegetables (carrots, beats, sweet potatoes, squash, etc.), and pita bread.

Package of corn tortillas
Cayenne Pepper
Sea Salt

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Stack desired amount of tortillas on top of each other and cut into quarters, sixths, or eights. The bigger the size chip, the longer it may take to become golden brown, but it will only be by a few minutes. Place wedges into a single layer on baking sheet and sprinkle with desired amount of sea salt and cayenne pepper (other seasonings can be used such as, fresh group pepper, chili powder, curry, oregano, lime, garlic powder, etc.). Bake 8-12 minutes, but keep an eye on chips after 8 minutes. As stated, smaller chips may brown quicker than larger chips, so keep an eye out.

Serve with homemade dips, like hummus, salsa, or black beans.
