Beer Bread

Very simple beer bread recipe that my mother used to make. Additional seasonings also may be added, such as thyme, rosemary, sesame, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger & honey, coriander & cloves. My favorite is rosemary paired with a good seasonal beer. In Miami, we don't really get seasons, but I still prefer a good summer ale. The last loaf I made was with a Leinenkugel Summer Shandy. Other times of the year, I may go for a Yuengling Black & Tan, or a Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale.

3 C. Self-Rising Flour
3 tbsp. Granulated Sugar
12 oz. Favorite Seasonal Beer
optional seasonings, such as: thyme, rosemary, sesame, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger & honey, coriander & cloves

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix dry ingredients, including any preferred seasonings. Incorporate beer and combine all ingredients into a dough. You can use your hands, or a spatula. Bake in non-stick, or floured 9.25 in. x 5.25 in. x 2.5 in. loaf pan at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 hour.
